In both boxing and in politics, rematches rarely produce different outcomes--except that the person who won the first fight usually wins by even more when the two opponents square off a second time.

That hasn't been the case for Mission Control Congressional clients, however. Many current Representatives lost their initial bids without Mission Control on their communications teams, only to win their rematches with us on board.

Melissa Bean lost by double digits in 2002 but, as a client of Mission Control, won in 2004. Joe Courtney ran unsuccessfully in 2002 without us as well, but won with us in 2006. Paul Hodes lost by over 20 points in 2004, then hired Mission Control and coasted to victory in 2006.

Obviously, there are many factors in any race, and we can't take sole credit for all of these wins. Still, the record is pretty clear; when it comes to rematches, we're either really good or really lucky. Either way, it appears to be much better to have Mission Control on your team than not.
